As a child I hated writing. I suspect that this had something to do with the fact that I associated writing with calluses and hand cramps and general physical exhaustion resulting from the time limits put on essay questions. However, now that we're living in an era where the presence of computers is commonplace, I've quite taken a liking to actually putting my thoughts down on paper. Poems have always been my go-to format of expression because they're much more satisfying to write than essays or stories or journal entries. I enjoy puns and wordplay and rhyming, and I feel that my poetry reflects my personality very well. Since I'm reflecting on myself and my past experiences, it seems more fitting to use a medium that feels more "me" and save the out-of-my-comfort-zone stuff for another time.
